Fabien Causeur Announces Retirement from Basketball

Fabien Causeur has announced his retirement from professional basketball after an illustrious career spanning nearly 20 years in European basketball. The 38-year-old French guard announced his decision via a personal statement on social media, stating that he is leaving "fulfilled" by everything he experienced on the court. Causeur began his professional career with Le Havre, before moving to Cholet, where he established himself, winning the French league title in 2010 and being named league MVP. He then moved to Spain to play for Baskonia, where he played for four seasons in the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. In 2016, he joined Bamberg, winning the German championship and the title of Finals MVP. His most successful period came with Real Madrid, where he played from 2017 to 2024. With the 'Queen', he won, among other things, two EuroLeagues (2018, 2023), multiple Spanish league and cup titles, being a key member of one of the most successful teams in recent times. He spent his last season playing for Olimpia Milan, completing his journey at the highest level. He was also a member of the French national team, participating in major tournaments such as the World Championship and the Olympic Games. Fabien Causeur retires as one of the most reliable and successful role players in the EuroLeague, leaving behind a career full of titles, consistency and respect from teammates and opponents.
