Fidan: Council of Peace and Turkey's New Role in the Emerging World Order

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking from Davos, positioned Turkey as an indispensable mediator in a period of geopolitical instability and shifting alliances. He highlighted the importance of the newly established Council of Peace as a platform for diplomatic conflict resolution, particularly concerning Gaza, where the conflict is transitioning from the battlefield to the negotiating table. Fidan emphasized the Turkish President's efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the need for humanitarian aid. He believes the Council of Peace will play a central role in providing this aid and finding solutions. Regarding Syria, Fidan reiterated Turkey's commitment to the country's territorial integrity, stressing the need for stabilization and the return of refugees. He characterized the potential transformation of Syria from a country exporting terrorism and refugees into one that is unifying and restoring security as a positive development for the region. Furthermore, Fidan presented Turkey as a balancing force in the new world order, pursuing mutual benefit and the protection of national interests. According to Fidan, Erdogan's "experienced foreign policy" enables Turkey to play this role.
