Germany's Arms Exports to Turkey See Significant Increase

German arms exports decreased in 2025 compared to 2024, reaching €8.4 billion against €13.3 billion. However, Turkey has risen to the second position among buyers of German arms, with purchases totaling €726 million, the highest amount since 1999. Norway remains the top buyer with €1.31 billion, followed by Ukraine in third place. The increase in exports to Turkey is a result of the new German government's decision and geopolitical developments, reversing the downward trend of previous years, which had intensified after the Turkish invasion of Syria in 2026.
