Helicopter Sunken in Larnaca Sea for Years (VIDEO)

The seabed around Cyprus holds 17 shipwrecks, five of which are located in Larnaca. Among these, in addition to ships and fishing boats, there is a British military helicopter that crashed in Dekelia in 1966. The helicopter lies at a depth of 16 meters and has become a popular destination for divers, as it is inhabited by octopuses and offers an impressive sight. The wrecks in Larnaca include the Zenobia, known as the "Titanic of the Mediterranean", the fishing boat Alexandria, the British warship HMS Cricket, the military helicopter, and an ancient shipwreck in Mazotos. The ancient shipwreck of Mazotos, dating back to the 4th century BC, carried amphorae with wine and is a significant archaeological site for Cyprus. The findings from Mazotos are exhibited at the Larnaca Archaeological Museum, proving that the seabed of Larnaca is a living museum that connects the ancient past with modern history. These wrecks create a unique underwater world, rich in history and marine life.
