Hero Dog Saves Owner Who Collapsed on Empty Beach

A 71-year-old man, David Howard, was saved from cardiac arrest thanks to the quick response of passersby and the attention of his dog, a five-year-old Labrador named Beau. The man collapsed on an empty beach in Dorset, after swimming in the sea, and Beau began jumping on him and barking persistently to attract attention. A woman and her partner, as well as two off-duty doctors, arrived at the scene and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the ambulance arrived. The man was taken to hospital, where he was fitted with an implantable defibrillator and has fully recovered. He says he owes his life to his dog.
