Holidays in 2026: Limited Long Weekends

The year 2026 is not expected to offer many long weekends due to the placement of public holidays. The main holidays that create three-day weekends are Epiphany, Clean Monday, Easter Monday, and Whit Monday. May Day is the only holiday falling on a Friday, providing a shorter break. Specifically, the holidays of 2026 are: New Year's Day (January 1st), Epiphany (January 6th), Clean Monday (February 23rd), Annunciation (March 25th), EOKA Liberation Struggle (April 1st), Easter Sunday and Monday (April 12th & 13th), May Day (May 1st), Whit Monday (June 1st), Dormition of the Theotokos (August 15th), Independence Day (October 1st), “No” Day (October 28th), Christmas (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th). Despite the limited number of long weekends, there are opportunities for rest, especially during the Easter period and in early summer.
