Hong Kong Fire Death Toll Rises to 168

The death toll from the fatal fire that broke out in a multi-story apartment complex in Hong Kong in November has been finalized at 168, according to authorities. The fire, the deadliest in a residential building in Hong Kong in decades, quickly spread to seven of the complex's eight towers, which was under renovation and covered with substandard protective netting. Authorities have established an independent committee to investigate the causes of the fire and have made arrests for manslaughter and fraud. Among the victims, 110 were women and 58 were men, aged from 6 months to 98 years.
