Housing Crisis a Focus of Cypriot EU Presidency

Cyprus intends to play an active role in addressing the housing crisis during its Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou presented the priorities of the Presidency, which include increasing the supply of housing, mobilizing investment, providing immediate support, and promoting structural reforms. Cyprus will host an Informal Ministerial Meeting on Housing in May 2026 and will work towards the adoption of Conclusions at the EPSCO Council in June 2026. Recovering affordable housing is a key priority, as the crisis affects a large number of European citizens.
