“I’m Alive”: Video of Machado’s Escape from Venezuela

A video has been released documenting the escape of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado from the country. Machado remained hidden for a year before managing to flee with the help of the Grey Bull Rescue Foundation and travel to Norway to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Brian Stern, head of Grey Bull, described the operation as one of the most demanding and successful undertaken by the organization. Machado boarded a boat and met with the Grey Bull team in the Caribbean Sea. In the video, Stern is heard confirming Machado’s identity and welcoming her aboard his vessel. Machado expressed her gratitude to Grey Bull for helping her reach a safe place.
