Iranian President Accuses US and Israel of Inciting Protests

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States and Israel of being behind the recent anti-government protests that have gripped the country. He claimed that "terrorists" linked to foreign powers are responsible for the violence and destruction, and urged citizens to distance themselves from them. At the same time, he assured that his government is willing to listen to the people and address economic problems. The speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, warned Donald Trump that any US attack would provoke retaliation from Tehran against Israel and US military bases in the region. These bases would be considered "legitimate targets". Sources report that Israel is on high alert due to the possibility of US intervention to support the protesters. This concern was sparked by statements from Donald Trump, who said Iran is "looking towards freedom" and that the United States is ready to help. Trump has repeatedly threatened the Iranian leadership with retaliation if protesters are targeted, who began their demonstrations on December 28 due to high inflation. The protests have spread to over 100 cities and have resulted in at least 116 deaths, with reports of chaotic scenes in Tehran hospitals.
