Key Changes in the New Tax System

The new tax system of Cyprus will come into effect on January 1, 2026, following the approval of the relevant legislation by the House of Representatives. The Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) made a significant contribution to shaping the amendments, aiming to support the Cypriot economy and enhance the competitiveness of businesses. The most important changes include increasing corporate tax to 15%, reducing withholding tax on dividends to 5%, abolishing deemed dividend distribution and the Stamp Duties Laws. Additionally, new provisions are introduced regarding the responsibility of directors, land grants, the special defense contribution, and the submission of tax returns.
