KSED Conducts Medical Evacuation from Ship South of Limassol

The Cyprus Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED) conducted a medical evacuation of a patient from a ship located 125 nautical miles south of Limassol on January 23, 2026. The operation began at 02:15 and was completed with the safe transfer of the patient to the General Hospital of Nicosia at 08:30. A helicopter from the Police Air Operations Unit was used for the evacuation, with a specialized nurse from the Ambulance Service of the OKYPY on board. This operation is part of the National E-D NEARHOS Plan, which was activated to address the situation.
