Man Convicted of Trafficking and Exploiting Foreign Workers in Cyprus

The Supreme Court upheld a man's conviction for trafficking and exploiting foreign women working on farms in Cyprus. However, it overturned two rape convictions due to a lack of sufficient evidence, resulting in a reduction of the overall sentence from ten to eighteen years. The man had been accused of serious offenses against two women, from India and Nepal, whom he allegedly exploited financially and sexually, while imposing exhausting working hours and conditions of confinement. The court found the women's testimony to be credible, despite delays in reporting and some minor inconsistencies.
