Mandatory Evacuation of Children Ordered from Villages in Zaporizhzhia

Published January 14, 2026, 11:22

Kyiv has announced the mandatory evacuation of children from several villages in the southern Zaporizhzhia region, indicating escalating fighting. Approximately 40 children will be relocated to the Cherkasy region for safety. The decision is considered difficult but necessary to protect lives, especially those of children, amid ongoing shelling. Ukrainian authorities have been urging residents of frontline areas to leave their homes, but the implementation of mandatory evacuation notices suggests a significant deterioration in the situation. Simultaneously, it is reported that Russian forces have intensified their attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region and claim to have captured the village of Komarivka in the Sumy region.
