Mexico Train Derailment: At Least 13 Dead, 98 Injured

A train carrying 250 passengers derailed in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, resulting in at least 13 fatalities and 98 injuries. Authorities reported that 139 people are safe, 98 are injured, and unfortunately, 13 have lost their lives. The train was traveling from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos. The railway line, known as the Interoceanic Corridor, was inaugurated in 2023 and is a significant infrastructure project aimed at boosting economic development in the region. The injured have been transported to public hospitals. An investigation has been launched by federal authorities to determine the cause of the accident. A similar incident occurred on the same line on December 20th, when a train collided with a truck, without any reported casualties.
