Moscow to Ban Gasoline Exports from April 1st to Curb Prices

Russia will ban gasoline exports from April 1st to July 31st in an effort to curb prices amid turmoil in the global oil and derivatives market, caused by the crisis in the Middle East. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that high demand for Russian energy resources in foreign markets remains a positive factor. The decision comes after gasoline shortages in various regions of Russia and Ukraine, due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries and seasonal demand increases. Russia has repeatedly imposed restrictions on fuel exports to address shortages and rising prices. Last year, the country exported approximately 5 million metric tons of gasoline.
