Most Reliable Cars in Europe Revealed – Which Brands Have the Fewest Breakdowns

A new study by Altroconsumo, an Italian consumer organization, in collaboration with drivers from ten European countries, reveals the most reliable cars in Europe. Reliability was assessed based on real data and owner experiences, considering breakdowns, repair costs, and the overall cost of ownership. According to the research, Japanese brands dominate the ranking, with Lexus taking first place with a reliability index of 93%. Toyota follows with 91%, as does Suzuki. Subaru and Honda complete the top five with 91% and 89% respectively. Tesla is the only non-Asian brand to enter the top ten, recording a reliability index of 89%. The research also highlights the rise of Chinese brand BYD and Smart in the European market. Mazda and Mitsubishi complete the top ten. The most common problems reported by drivers relate to electronic systems (14% of breakdowns). The study emphasizes the importance of reliability as a car selection criterion, as it significantly affects the total cost of ownership and the driving experience.
