Movement Alma Accuses President Christodoulides of Justifying Corruption

The Movement Alma- Citizens for Cyprus has accused President Christodoulides of “imitating his mentor, Nicos Anastasiades, to justify corruption,” referring to his recent statements regarding the “black donations” scandal. Alma claims that the President is attempting to retroactively legitimize practices that are outside the institutional framework, as he acknowledges the role of his husband and Giorgos Lakkootrypis in attracting foreign investment. The movement argues that the President is trying to present their involvement as legitimate practice, similar to promoting investment and corporate social responsibility, while in reality it is collusion and corruption. Furthermore, Alma reminds that the legislation is clear regarding the procedures for submitting applications for strategic developments and the control of foreign investments.
