Occupied Cyprus 'Parliamentary' Elections to be Held in 2026, Says Governing Partner

Fikri Ataoglu, a partner in the 'government' in the occupied territories, stated that the 'parliamentary elections' will be held within 2026, instead of January 2027. The exact date has not yet been determined, as this issue has not been discussed among the 'government' partners. Mr. Ataoglu suggested holding a simultaneous referendum on 'constitutional amendments,' as requested by the 'president' of the 'supreme court,' to proceed with 'judicial reform.' He also mentioned the possibility of discussing horizontal voting and the previous leader's idea to turn the old 'parliament' building and the 'presidency' into museums.
