Published December 31, 2025, 11:26

The Organization for Payments and Control of Community Aid (OPKEPE) is being abolished after 27 years of operation and will be integrated into the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) from January 1, 2026. The integration involves the transfer of OPKEPE's 624 organic positions to AADE and the creation of a new Directorate-General for Controls, Enhancements and Payments, with various departments covering a wide range of responsibilities, from direct aid to coordination and reporting. The aim of the change is to upgrade the management of community resources, ensure transparency and reliability, increase efficiency in program implementation, treat beneficiaries uniformly and provide unified supervision of regional structures. The new structure will emphasize adherence to timelines, application of the regulatory framework and the use of data for decision-making. The Governor of AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, stated that the integration will lead to the development of a comprehensive framework of controls and payments, which will strengthen farmers, support beneficiaries and protect public funds. This change is considered crucial for safeguarding the national economy from fiscal risks. With the abolition of OPKEPE and its integration into AADE, the government aims to simplify procedures, reduce bureaucracy and ensure that community resources are used effectively and transparently, benefiting the rightful recipients.
