Parliament: Responsibilities for Human Trafficking Transferred to Ministry of Justice

The Parliament unanimously approved two bills proposed by MP Rita Theodorou Souperman, which transfer the responsibilities for combating human trafficking from the Deputy Ministry of Migration to the Ministry of Justice. Ms. Souperman emphasized that human trafficking is a blatant violation of human rights and should be treated as a crime rather than a migration issue. The transfer of responsibilities was done in cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Migration and is expected to facilitate more effective combating of the crime. Other MPs, such as Irene Charalambidou and Alexandra Attalidou, expressed their support for the proposals, emphasizing the importance of effectively addressing human trafficking.
