Parliamentary Committee Scrutinizes Independent Social Support Agency Report, General Auditor Walks Out

The House of Representatives' Control Committee examined the General Auditor's Annual Report for 2023 regarding the Independent Social Support Agency. During the discussion, questions were raised about potential collusion and conflicts of interest. The General Auditor stated that the audit was administrative and not financial, identifying some weaknesses in the procedures, which have largely been corrected. He also expressed the view that the agency's account would be preferable to be hosted by a commercial bank to enable oversight by the Central Bank. A significant increase in contributions and expenditures in recent years was noted, which was described as 'unnatural behavior'. The General Accountant presented the agency's position on the issues raised, while the First Lady was unable to attend due to commitments in the EU.
