Plane Carrying Libyan Chief of Staff 'Did Not Explode in the Air'

The private plane carrying the Libyan Chief of General Staff, General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Hadad, which crashed near the Turkish capital, Ankara, in late December, did not explode in the air, according to a preliminary report cited by the Anadolu state news agency. Investigators found that the Falcon 50, which also carried four advisors to the Libyan chief of staff and three crew members, including two French nationals and a Greek flight attendant, crashed into a hill while its engines were operating “at full power”. The aircraft was intact at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident remains unknown. The black box has been recovered and will be analyzed in the United Kingdom. The plane had departed from Ankara for Tripoli when it crashed into a hill.
