Renaming of the Nicosia General Hospital Nephrology Clinic

The Nephrology Clinic of the Nicosia General Hospital has been renamed the “Alkis Pieridis” Nephrology Clinic, in honor of the distinguished nephrologist Dr. Alki Pieridis, who passed away in June 2025. The renaming ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the President of the House of Representatives, the Minister of Health, and the former President of the Republic. Dr. Pieridis is considered the founder of Nephrology in Cyprus and played a crucial role in the creation and development of dialysis units. He served for decades at the Nicosia General Hospital, as a clinical physician and teacher of younger doctors. The “Alkis Pieridis” Clinic continues his work, providing comprehensive nephrology services, including the largest dialysis unit in Cyprus, with 300 dialysis patients, a 12-bed nephrology clinic, and a peritoneal dialysis department with 26 patients. The clinic is committed to providing excellent nephrological care, with a human-centered approach, offering safety, quality, and empathy to patients and their families.
