Russia Displays Oreshnik Hypersonic Missile System Deployment in Belarus

Russia has released video footage showing the deployment of its nuclear-capable Oreshnik hypersonic missile system in Belarus. This deployment was previously announced by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and aims to enhance Moscow's ability to strike targets across Europe. The video, published by the defense ministries of Russia and Belarus, shows mobile launchers and soldiers camouflaging the systems in forested areas. Russia announced that this is the first time it has displayed the Oreshnik missile systems. Lukashenko had stated in August that Russia had begun mass production of this next-generation missile and could deploy it in Belarus by 2025. Joint military exercises between Russia and Belarus had previously raised concerns among NATO member states. The deployment of the Oreshnik, a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, represents an escalation of tensions in the region and a show of force by Russia.
