Soaring Meat Prices in the Occupied Territories - Restaurant Owners Demand Regulated Imports

Meat prices in the occupied territories have reached unsustainable levels, prompting the association of restaurant owners (RES-BİR) to demand the commencement of regulated imports of slaughter meat. The association opposes an uncontrolled import system that would harm local producers. The creation of a transparent import platform, a fund to protect producers, and a guaranteed purchase system for domestic meat are proposed. The platform should include representatives from producers, butchers, restaurants, and veterinary units, and a reference price for domestic meat should be established. According to the proposal, a portion of the price of each kilogram of imported meat will be returned to producers as support. The fund will be used to cover the cost of feed, prevent livestock losses, and support small and medium-sized farmers.
