Summer Time Change: Why the Clock Changes – The Dispute Over Prevalence

Summer time will come into effect from the early hours of Sunday, March 29th, with clocks moving forward one hour. The change of time remains a contentious issue in the European Union, as 84% of European citizens want to abolish it and adopt a permanent summer or winter time. However, the lack of consensus among member states regarding the choice of time has delayed a final decision. There are arguments for and against changing the time, with emphasis on health, well-being, environment and energy saving. The pandemic and other priorities have postponed discussions, resulting in the continuation of the time change for the time being.
