The Kyperounta Sanatorium and Tuberculosis in CHRONICLE. With POLITIS on Sunday

The newspaper “POLITIS” is re-releasing the magazine “CHRONICLE” on a monthly basis, updating it with a modern approach and rich archival material. Each issue will focus on a major theme of the country's history, a chronology of important events, and a second theme in collaboration with the Cultural Foundation of the Bank of Cyprus. The first issue, released this Sunday 25/01, is dedicated to the Kyperounta Sanatorium and the fight against tuberculosis in Cyprus. The article examines the history of the sanatorium as a haven of hope in an era when tuberculosis posed a serious threat to health. Through testimonies, historical data, and rare archival material, “CHRONICLE” highlights the human dimension of the disease, the efforts of scientists, and the resilience of those affected. It examines the living and hospital conditions in the Sanatorium, as well as the social impact of tuberculosis. The magazine is available free of charge with the “POLITIS” newspaper and aims to keep historical memory alive and contribute to understanding the present through the lens of the past.
