US Considers Full Oil Embargo on Cuba to Push for Regime Change

The Trump administration is considering imposing a full naval embargo on oil imports to Cuba, with the goal of overthrowing the regime in Havana. The plan, supported by Marco Rubio, is under review, although no final decision has been made. Mexico, the largest supplier of oil to Cuba after Venezuela halted shipments, is considering stopping deliveries, fearing retaliation from the US. Trump has stated that Cuba is “ready to fall” and that no more oil or money will be sent to the island. Despite these statements, the Mexican government publicly says it will continue shipments, but internally is reviewing its options, as it is concerned about its relationship with the US. Cutting off oil supplies could lead to a humanitarian disaster and mass migration.
